Your Simple Self-Reiki Routine To Balance Your Chakras with Healing Energy

Today, I want to share a simple self-Reiki routine that will help you bring balance to your chakras by working with the energy centres of your body. As you probably know, our chakras are powerful energy points that influence our emotional, physical, and spiritual health. By channeling Reiki energy through these centres, we can clear blockages, promote healing, and restore harmony.

I have loved Reiki since I started teaching 20 years ago and have integrated it into so many aspects of my Face Yoga work. A few years ago, I trained in Reiki 1 and 2 and as well giving me deeper knowledge to pass onto clients, it kick-started a wonderful self-Reiki personal practice which I still do to this day.

What’s beautiful about Reiki is that you don’t need to be an expert or have taken certifications like I have, to deeply connect with this energy. It’s all about tuning in, trusting your intuition, and allowing the energy to flow through your hands to your body.

This self-Reiki practice will guide you through all seven chakras, focusing on the colour associated with each energy centre to enhance your healing experience. You can do this routine in as little as 10 minutes, and it’s perfect for any time you feel you need a reset or a little extra support.

Let’s begin, shall we?

1. Create Your Sacred Space

Before you dive into the practice, take a moment to create a peaceful environment where you can focus. Find a quiet space where you feel comfortable and undisturbed. If you’d like, light a candle, burn some calming incense, or play soft, soothing music - anything that helps you feel relaxed and centred.

2. Centre Yourself with Breath

Sit comfortably, either on a chair or cross-legged on the floor, and close your eyes. Let’s start by taking a few deep breaths together. Inhale through your nose, filling your lungs and belly with air, and then exhale slowly through your nose, releasing any tension or stress. Let your breath be smooth and easy.

As you breathe, gently set an intention for your practice - something like, “I am open to healing,” or “I allow balance and harmony to flow through me.” You can even hold your hands up to the sky and visualise a healing light moving through you and radiating out the palms of your hands (which will be your healing tool through this sequence).

When you feel ready, we’ll begin the chakra healing process, starting at the top of the head and working our way down to the feet.

3. Crown Chakra – Violet Light (Top of the Head)

Let’s start at the Crown Chakra - the energy centre at the very top of your head. This chakra is linked to your connection to the universe, spirituality, and higher consciousness, and it’s associated with the colour violet.

Place your hands gently on top of your head, and visualise a beautiful violet light swirling at the crown. Imagine this light growing brighter and more expansive with each breath, bringing clarity, connection, and peace. Stay here for a few moments, breathing deeply, and allow the energy to flow.

4. Third Eye Chakra – Indigo Light (Forehead, Between the Eyebrows)

Next, we’ll move down to the Third Eye Chakra, located between the eyebrows, in the centre of your forehead. This chakra is all about intuition, inner wisdom, and clarity, and it’s associated with the colour indigo.

Place your hands over your forehead, and visualise a deep indigo light radiating from this area. With each breath, imagine this energy clearing away any mental fog or confusion, and opening your mind to insight and inner knowing. Allow your mind to relax and trust in the process.

5. Throat Chakra – Blue Light (Throat Area)

Now, let’s move to the Throat Chakra, which is located at your throat and governs communication, self-expression, and authenticity. This chakra is connected to the colour blue.

Place your hands gently around your throat area. Visualise a soothing blue light surrounding your throat, clearing any blockages around your ability to express yourself and speak your truth. With each breath, feel your throat chakra becoming clear, open, and full of calm energy.

6. Heart Chakra – Green Light (Centre of the Chest)

Now, let’s move to the Heart Chakra, located in the centre of your chest. This chakra represents love, compassion, and emotional balance, and it’s associated with the colour green.

Place your hands over your heart area and imagine a vibrant green light enveloping your heart. With each inhale, breathe in love and healing; with each exhale, release any negative emotions or blockages. Allow this green light to surround your heart, promoting self-love, compassion, and emotional balance.

7. Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow Light (Upper Abdomen)

Next, let’s work with the Solar Plexus Chakra, located just above your navel. This chakra governs personal power, confidence, and self-esteem, and is linked to the colour yellow.

Place your hands just above your stomach, and visualise a warm, golden yellow light radiating from this area. Feel this light filling you with confidence, strength, and a sense of personal empowerment. With each breath, allow any self-doubt or insecurity to melt away, leaving you feeling radiant and capable.

8. Sacral Chakra – Orange Light (Lower Abdomen)

Now, let’s move to the Sacral Chakra, located just below your navel. This chakra is all about creativity, passion, and emotional well-being, and is associated with the colour orange.

Place your hands on your lower abdomen, just below the navel, and visualise a bright orange light glowing here. With each breath, imagine this orange energy filling you with creativity, sensuality, and joy. Allow any emotional blockages or stagnant energy to be released, making space for warmth and vitality.

9. Root Chakra – Red Light (Base of the Spine)

Finally, we come to the Root Chakra, located at the base of your spine. This chakra governs stability, security, and grounding, and it’s associated with the colour red.

Place your hands on your lower back or the base of your spine, and visualise a deep red light radiating from this area. With each breath, feel this red energy grounding you to the earth, providing you with a sense of safety, stability, and connection. Imagine this energy spreading down through your legs and into the earth below, anchoring you deeply.

10. Close Your Practice

As you finish working through each chakra, take a few moments to place your hands back over your heart and visualise all of the colours blending together in harmony - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. Feel the balance and flow of energy throughout your body, radiating calm and healing.

Take three deep breaths to close the practice, and affirm to yourself, “I am balanced. I am whole. I am aligned.”
