BLOG 99: 4 WAYS TO NATURALLY PLUMP THE LIPS WITH FACE YOGA
Oct 12, 2021As we get older, we start to produce less collagen – the plumping agent that helps our skin to stay elastic and looking healthy.
As well as making us more prone to sagging and wrinkles, this loss of collagen can cause our lips to look thinner. But the good news is that there are some natural ways to keep your lips looking full and plump as you get older.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I am passionate about taking a natural approach to our health and appearance. Face Yoga and Facial Massage techniques help to keep our skin and faces looking healthy and glowing.
Plus, Face Yoga is a beautiful form of self-care. Taking just five to ten minutes each day to focus on yourself can help you cope with the stress and busyness of everyday life.
Today’s short face yoga sequence focuses on the lip area. It is very quick to do – it should take you no more than a couple of minutes. But, if you do it regularly, this sequence will naturally plump your lips and reduce smile lines.
GETTING STARTED
Make sure your hands and face are clean before you start and find a comfortable place to sit. Ideally, have a mirror to hand so that you can see what you are doing.
Apply a few drops of serum around your lip area. Fusion by Danielle Collins is an ideal choice – full of antioxidants to nourish your skin, it is specially formulated to be used with Face Yoga.
Always work to your own level with any Face Yoga routine.
TECHNIQUE #1: CIRCULAR MASSAGE
Using your index finger, massage around your mouth with a small circular motion. Go all around your lips a couple of times, making circles in one direction.
Then change both the direction of the circles and the way you are going around your mouth.
This helps to wake up the circulation and encourages the serum to penetrate deeper into your skin.
TECHNIQUE #2: FLICKING
Still using your index finger, switch to using a small flicking motion as you work around your lips.
As you come over your upper lip, flick your finger upwards. Then, as you move around your lower lip, change to flicking downwards.
TECHNIQUE #3: SQUEEZE THE MUSCLES
Take the index and middle fingers of both hands to your upper lip, and your thumbs to your lower lip.
Squeeze them together, pinching into the muscles around your lips. Hold for ten seconds and then release.
Repeat this up to three times, remembering to work to your own level.
TECHNIQUE #4: SMILE LINES
Form a slight ‘O’ shape with your mouth, tucking your lips around your teeth.
Take the index and middle fingers of each hand to either side of your nostrils. Smooth your fingers down and around your mouth, coming down to meet in the centre of your chin. Then, reverse the motion, gliding your fingers back up to your nose.
Repeat this move for up to a minute. This is a great technique for releasing stagnant energy around the lips and reducing the appearance of smile lines.

That’s it, all finished. This quick Face Yoga sequence is short and simple, making it easy to fit into your daily routine.
