Lift and brighten hooded eyes in just one minute a day

If you’re looking to naturally lift and tone your eye area - especially if you’re noticing a bit of heaviness on your eyelids - then I’m excited to share this gentle yet powerful one-minute exercise with you. As we move into our 40s and beyond, our skin and muscles start to change and we may notice a droopiness in the eye area. Our skin naturally loses elasticity, and we may start to notice a slight hooding effect as the upper eyelid gently relaxes downwards. But by activating and toning the tiny muscles around the eyes, we can encourage lift and circulation, which brings a brighter, more open look to the eye area.

This exercise is the perfect addition to your daily routine. Just one minute a day can help you achieve a more awake and lifted look by reawakening those delicate eye muscles.

You can incorporate this technique into your morning or evening skincare ritual. All you need is a clean face, your fingers, and a gentle touch.

1. Prepare Your Hands and Mind

Start with freshly washed hands. Take a moment to centre yourself, breathing deeply and setting an intention for this moment of self-care. Visualise your eyes looking bright, lifted, and vibrant.

2. Place Your Fingers in Position

Gently place your index fingers just underneath your eyebrows. Lightly press upwards, as though you’re gently lifting your brows a small amount. This gives support to the muscles as they work, enhancing the toning effect of the exercise.

3. Gently close your eyes

With your fingers still pressing upwards, close your eyes slowly. You’ll feel a gentle resistance between your eyelids and fingers - this is perfect. It activates the levator muscles, which are the ones that naturally lift the lids.

4. Hold

Hold your eyes closed for a few seconds, breathing deeply and relaxing the rest of your face. You should feel a little shake or pulse. Repeat the exercise again 5-7 times.

5. Release, Breathe, and Smile

Release your fingers and take a deep breath. If any little lines were created on your forehead, take 1 minute to smooth these out with your finger tips.

Why This Exercise Works

This exercise strengthens the muscles that support your upper eyelids and enhances blood flow, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin and deeper tissue. Here’s what you can expect:

 • A Natural Lift: Activating the levator muscles gives a gentle lift to the lids over time.

 • Improved Circulation: Increased blood flow helps reduce puffiness and may soften dark circles.

 • Boosted Radiance: Your eyes look more open and refreshed, helping you feel bright and energised.

Tips for a Effective Practice

 • Consistency is Key: Try to commit to this one-minute exercise daily for the best results. Making it a regular part of your wellness routine can create a noticeable, lasting lift over time.

 • Gentle Pressure Only: Always use a soft touch to avoid pulling on the delicate skin around your eyes.

 • Combine with Mindful Breathing: Connecting with your breath helps release tension, leaving you feeling more centered and radiant.
