How I Wear Sequins All Year Round For Joy And Vitality

As someone who loves both fashion and wellness, I’ve always believed the two are deeply connected. When we look good, we feel good. And when we feel good, we look good. It’s a beautiful cycle that can uplift not just our own mood, but those around us as well.

One of my fashion principles is not saving things for “special occasions.” Every day is special. Whether it’s a work meeting, a casual lunch, or a day at home, I approach fashion with intention and joy. I have a little process when choosing my outfits:

  1. I think about what I’m doing that day.
  2. I consider the weather.
  3. Most importantly, I focus on how I want to feel plus the vibe and intention I want to set that day.

This is where sequins and sparkles come in. For me, they’re more than festive party wear – they’re mood boosters, energy lifters, and expressions of my inner joy and vitality. For example, if my intention for the day is to feel vibrant or uplifting, I’ll add a touch of sparkle to my look.

The Sustainability of Sequins

Now, I must acknowledge that sequins are often made of plastic, so I’m mindful about choosing pieces made from recycled materials whenever possible. When investing in sequins, I believe in wearing them repeatedly – these are not single-use items but treasures to enjoy throughout the year.

To inspire you, here are some of my favourite sparkly pieces that I wear not just during festive periods but all year round:

1. The Black Sequin Jacket

I bought this jacket in H & M in November for an event, and it’s quickly become a wardrobe staple. I love pairing it with:

  • Silver wide-leg jeans from Marks & Spencer.
  • A grey bodysuit from Asos and black heeled boots from Clarks.
  • My long purple River Island coat for added glamour and warmth in the winter.

It also looks great with black faux leather leggings and a belt for structure. This will be a versatile piece for spring and summer too!

2. The Vintage Jacket

This treasure is over 100 years old and was passed down from a relative to my grandmother, then my grandmother to my mum, and now to me. It’s beautifully made and steeped in family history.

I recently wore it with black wide-leg trousers and heeled boots, and I plan to pair it with:

  • White trousers for summer.
  • A denim skirt and a simple white tee for a chic yet casual look.
  • Wide legged jeans and heeled boots.

3. The Sparkly Miniskirt

This miniskirt has been in my wardrobe for 15 years, and I’ve styled it countless ways:

  • Bare legs and sandals for summer teamed with a little cami top.
  • Black tights and a silver jumper for winter.
  • Black shirt or jumper for a classic look all year round.

4. The Rainbow Skirt

This vibrant piece from Law & Co brings joy to any outfit.

  • I’ve paired it with a white vest and trainers.
  • It also looks great with a denim shirt, also from Law & co
  • I also love in with this white shirt and blue jacket from Portman.

It’s a perfect all-year-round statement piece and feels glam yet effortless.

5. The Black Sparkly Jumpsuit

This jumpsuit is probably my favourite sparkly piece.

  • I originally wore it to a Pinterest Top Creators event with sparkly Converse trainers and a vintage belt (and the face glitter was provided at the event).
  • It also works beautifully with gold accessories and headbands for a glam look.
  • Another way I love to style my black sparkly jumpsuit is by pairing it with a cropped blazer. Adding a sleek, fitted blazer over the top completely transforms the look, giving the illusion of a beautifully tailored pair of black trousers. To elevate the outfit even further, I like to cinch it at the waist with a belt—this not only defines the silhouette but also adds a polished, sophisticated touch. It’s such a versatile outfit that can take you from a professional event to an evening out, all while keeping that touch of sparkle and joy. Whether paired with heeled boots or a pair of trainers, this look is one I return to again and again.

Jumpsuits are fantastic because they’re easy to style – you just throw them on, and you’re ready to go.

6. The Gold Jumpsuit

Talking of jumpsuits, here is another favourite which I wear again and again. It is from Dorothy Perkins and to dress it down I always wear it with trainers and a funky bag. Again, the easiest outfit but brings me joy and fun when I wear it.

7. The Black Crop Top

This H&M crop top has been a go-to for years.

  • It pairs effortlessly with blazers, trousers, or jeans.
  • Add a sparkly bag for extra flair.
  • Looks great with a blazer thrown over it too and paired with cream wide legged trousers, can be taken from day to night.

8. The Blue Cami Top

This blue cami styled with a blazer is simple yet elegant. I love this colour and teamed it with a similar colour blazer and equally it works great with my black Zara blazer. These headbands bring the look together.

9. The Gold Outfit

My gold top and shorts from Mint Velvet are versatile for both summer and winter looks. Here I am styling them together with a cream bag and sandals. I feel this gives a perfect example of how sequins can be worn mid-Summer and still look on season and on trend.

Sparkle Your Way to Wellness

So there we have it, a quick round up of just some of my sparkly choices. Fashion isn’t just about looking good; it’s about how it makes you feel. Sequins and sparkles have the power to transform an ordinary day into something magical. By adding them to your wardrobe, you’re setting a joyful intention for your day.

Remember, don’t save your favourite pieces for “special occasions.” Every day is worth celebrating. When you wear what makes you feel good, it’s impossible not to radiate that joy to the world around you.
